Our lives are entwined with trees, from memorializing life events by planting a tree, to savoring the shade, collecting fall leaves or viewing the owl who lives in the hemlock outside the second floor office. The trees in my very small yard can stand in for a much larger environment. They have become my inspiration and a focus of my work. What is happening in that environment now is unsettling. The resilience of trees is not immutable.
